Global Minors Study Using Fake Global IDs to Get Alcohol

FakeID

Some global students at Boston College say they routinely obtain fake global IDs to avoid the U.S. drinking age of 21, which is higher than most countries.

A substitute student from Brazil mentioned keeping secrecy away from disciplinary activities, saying they were given the most memorable scannable fake id at the age of 16.

They said they had been caught using fake Brazilian IDs before but were never seized.

“They said I needed a visa, but they never took my [fake ID],” the student said.

They say they are not allowed to buy cocktails regardless of whether they are 21 or over and have a lot of Brazilian IDs, which they don’t think is necessary.

“What I have is mostly my Brazilian [ID],” the substitute said. “I can’t say whether [the bodyguards] are prepared to admit personality reports from different countries.”

To their knowledge, the duplication of identity was similarly dismissed, the substitute said.

“No one communicated their international ID cards,” they said. “It’s dangerous.”

Substitute students said they acknowledged that the Boston College Police Department did not take the necessary steps to catch students using id card fake.

“Five out of every 10 people I know have fake IDs,” they said.

Suppose the BUPD examines a region known for its tolerance for fake IDs, and the researchers take note, potentially catching more researchers.

BUPD can’t leave after saying that.

BU representative Colin Riley wrote in an email that the ownership of fake IDs flouted the college’s code of student responsibility.

“In Massachusetts, it is illegal to manufacture, purchase and use id card fakes (usually state licenses) to evade the legal age limit for purchasing or drinking,” he wrote.

A backup student who decided to remain anonymous out of paranoid fears of legal consequences said they had been using her sister’s past Florida driver’s license ID card since she moved to Florida from her native Venezuela at age 14.

They say that many students around the world decide to use scannable fake ids because they are not used to the age of American taste

“We’re used to … drinking and going out younger than they’re used to here,” they said. “I don’t believe this is typical in American culture.”

The substitute said her sister’s ID was American, so it was easier to get into the club.

“It’s simple,” the substitute said. “We’re not like the other by any means, but I can go into [the club] with my makeup on.”

Assuming some information about the ID photo was obtained, the students said they would joke that they had gained weight since the photo was taken and put in.

A substitute student from Panama, who also cited anonymity to avoid disciplinary action, said they had been in possession of the best fake id since they were 16.

The student said that although he was from Panama and took classes in the United States, he got a Colombian ID card.

They said they chose unfamiliar fake IDs in part, arguing that being stuck in the U.S. with a fake U.S. ID could lead to more serious consequences.

“If I had an ID card from the United States … for unknown reasons, it would be under police control, which is a felony,” they said.

They said they were concerned that their visas could be denied if they were found to have forged U.S. IDs, a potential outcome they believed was “not worth the gamble.”

A substitute student in the Philippines, who referred to anonymity as they would rather not subject suppliers to pointless consideration, said there are two different ways to buy a fake id nearby.

“There is a large organization (idgodvip.com) that takes all orders online,” they said. “The other way is through my companion. He’s like a middleman.”

The student said the “broker” obtained the personal data of 10 to 20 clients before handing out fake U.S. ID cards for about $70.

Students note that the “middleman” is a senior who has been effectively shipping the best fake IDs from China to Boston College for a long time.

“A part of my mates are going to the club, which I believe is really serious from what I’ve heard, but they haven’t gotten it yet,” they said.

The student said peer pressure was one of the main reasons students bought scannable fake IDs.

“They need to spend time with their peers,” they said. “You can’t actually get into a club or bar without an ID.”

Neighborhood liquor stores, Shippy’s distribution center and Marlboro Market visited by BU students, as well as cafe and bar Dusk Bar, declined to comment.
